Dec 24, 2008· Big end bearings gone. 24-12-08 , 12:35. My son has just been advised by his garage (Vaux dealer) that the big end bearings have gone on his Corsa SRi 1.4 (K reg). He has been told that a new engine (recon) will cost about £2000 to supply & fit with filters etc. Is there a cheaper way around this as there is no way he can afford this.

May 21, 2005· I''ve seen RB''s, CA''s and SR''s with mileages from 40,000 to 120,000 miles with marks on the big-end bearings. Its pretty normal really. I replaced the big-end shells on my last CA with the engine in the car and it covered another 30,000 miles without any problems before I sold it. The cranks seem to be pretty solid providing they''re looked after.
